Short Summary |
The Gender Equity in Health Sector Reform initiative
of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) has been piloted in
Chile and Bolivia. The aims of the project in Chile have been to generate
information on gender gaps in health, to build capacities in advocacy
and policy monitoring, and to develop a communication strategy to
integrate a gender perspective into public debate. This website discusses
the achievements and challenges of the project. It also describes
the work of the Observatory of Gender Equity in Health (Observatorio
de equidad de género en salud), which was instituted in 2004 to monitor
any gender progress in policies and institutions, to disseminate knowledge
and information on gender and health in public policy, and to carry
out advocacy initiatives. Online publications available from this
