As far as violence against women is concerned, 6 new centres for women victims of domestic violence were opened and the government made a commitment to deal with human trafficking at a legislative level and by guaranteeing protection and assistance to its victims. The Chilean national machinery for the advancement of women also started the process of developing codes of conduct for the public sector to ensure that women enjoy equal opportunities and are not discriminated against.
