Short Summary |
This kit does not claim to provide all the answers,
but does offer key questions to ask on gender, and tools which can
be adapted to different situations. While the pack targets SDC and
partners, it is also useful to gender mainstreaming in other organisations.
A booklet is included which explains why gender equality is essential
to poverty alleviation and sustainable development, and explains the
SDC approach and commitments to gender equality. Guiding principles
are: all interventions should be based on a gender aware analysis;
flexibility in implementation to suit local context; a multi-level
approach to tackle policy, institutional development, household and
community; continuing specific actions for gender equality as well
as gender mainstreaming; organisations including SDC must take action
on gender equality internally, including in Headquarters and cooperation
offices. Information sheets are provided on: definitions; gender strategies;
gender analysis; analytical frameworks; gender in household and community,
country, policy, sector, country programme, projects, organisations,
partners; monitoring and evaluation and multilateral cooperation.
A list of gender websites are also enclosed. Available in English,
German, French, Spanish, and Russian. For a copy of this publication,
