Short Summary |
Women's health status is an outcome of several
interacting factors, including women's relationship with their male
partners. This manual is a resource for trainers working with men
and youth (boys) on the issue of gender, sexuality, violence and health
in India. The content is guided by a social justice and equity perspective
and it is 'male-centred' in its approach. There are six distinct modules:
Equity and Equality; Gender; Sexuality; Health; Violence and Facilitation
Skills. Each module includes the different sessions' aims, activities,
handouts and facilitation notes. References for further reading are
also given. The 'Violence' module aims to enable participants to understand
the concept of violence, to see how it is a gender issue and to increase
their sensitivity around the subject. Videos, discussions and case
studies form part of the training. This manual is for use by trainers
who are working with groups of men, such as teachers with adolescent
boys, community organizers with male farmers and facilitators who
work with men on issues of gender-based violence. |
