Short Summary |
What are the key recent writings on gender in
Chinese? This paper provides an initial selection of twenty one pieces,
made by Beijing gender activist and journalist Feng Yuan. These include
official, academic and activist resources from mainland China, Taiwan
and Hong Kong. A broad range of themes are covered including: rural
and urban poverty, migration, social policy, law, land tenure reform,
women's participation in village elections, HIV/AIDS, sexuality and
politics of international development aid. A one paragraph summary
is given in both English and Chinese, describing the content of each
piece and details of where to download or how to order. All original
materials are in Chinese. While full translations are not available,
the English summaries will give non-Chinese speakers a flavour of
the issues and debates around gender in Chinese. Readers are invited
to recommend further Chinese gender sites to be added to the online
version of this report. |
