Short Summary
|
Environment and sustainability policy do not impact people of different genders in the same way, but at present policymaking does not always reflect these differences. Genanet is a project of the organisation LIFE - Women develop ecotechnology. It was created to raise awareness of gender equality in environment and sustainability policy. It aims to support gender mainstreaming in environmental policy by providing gender-focussed information on the environment, coordinating a network of gender and environment experts, advising environment organisations, carrying out studies and developing public and policy statements. As a gender justice and sustainability focal point, Genanet puts structures in place to allow effective lobbying of (environment) policy decisions from a gender perspective. Its website provides information on environment related resources and events from a gender perspective. Key issues featured include biodiversity, energy, climate change, agriculture and nutrition, mobility (i.e. transport), sustainability, health and water. The website also hosts a newsletter, policy papers and fact sheets on various issues including gender justice in climate protection, gender and consumption, environmental awareness and behaviour.
