Short Summary
|
MisFortune 500, a new website launched by the Women's Environment and Development Organisation (WEDO), aims to: expose corporate activities which violate women's rights, workers' rights and the environment; promote corporate accountability mechanisms; strengthen women's networking and engagement; and publicise women's resistance and alternatives to corporate globalisation. The website, which is a parody of Fortune magazine's annual list of top profit-making companies, ranks corporations in terms of human rights violations and misconduct towards women worldwide. The list can be browsed by region, topic or industry, and covers a wide range of sectors - agriculture, farming and fishing; apparel and textile manufacturing; bank and financial; chemical; defense and military; energy; health and pharmaceutical; mining; retail; water and beverage. The site also includes stories, testimonies, case studies and news articles; global and local campaigns and actions; policy information; publications and advocacy tools; and links to related organisations and networks. The website is available in English, Spanish and French.
