I. Special Feature: Two new BRIDGE resources HIV/AIDS
===============================
- Women and Girls Living with HIV/AIDS: Overview and Annotated Bibliography, Esplen, E. and The International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW), February 2007
Women's social, economic, and legal disadvantage is exacerbated by a positive HIV status, and vice versa. This report - consisting of an overview and annotated bibliography - considers the specific challenges faced by women and girls who are living with HIV and AIDS. Policy-makers must take their insights seriously.
http://www.siyanda.org/Static/esplen_women_hiv.htm
BRIDGE worked in collaboration with the International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW) to produce this report. ICW are the only international network run for and by HIV positive women. You can find out more about their work at:
http://www.icw.org/
- French translation of BRIDGE Cutting Edge Pack: Gender and HIV/AIDS, Bell, E. and Tallis, V., September 2002
Despite 20 years of international responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, infection rates are still on the increase and the numbers of women living with HIV are increasing faster than the number of men. An approach which transforms gender relations is needed to effectively tackle the epidemic.
This Cutting Edge Pack, which is now available in French as well as English, Spanish and Albanian, contains an Overview Report covering the main issues, and a Supporting Resources Collection summarising key texts, case studies, practical tools and training manuals. It also includes an ‘In Brief’ bulletin with short articles focusing on changing men's behaviours in Brazil, and action research by HIV positive women in Zimbabwe and Thailand.
