The UNESCWA Women's Centre was established in 2003 to improve Arab women's economic, social and political status. The Centre works to achieve this through creating greater awareness of gender-related issues, monitoring developments, analysing the situation of Arab women and providing technical assistance to ESCWA member countries in formulating gender-sensitive policies and strategies, among other things. Its outputs include meetings, research publications, media campaigns, TV spots and documentary films on gender and development issues.
